TRA offers a range of basic, advanced and specialised courses in advanced hiking and trekking skills, specialised field skills, survival, navigation, emergency signalling, trail medicine, self rescue and a wide range of other skills, knowledge and awareness to power up and strengthen your capability and resilience.
Trail Rescue Australia offers a 24/7 monitoring and/or overwatch service that provides hikers, trail runners, expeditions and groups. This pre-booked services is carried out with tracking devices, regular sched monitoring and check point confirmations. Essential for remote area solo activities.
Specialist SAR pathfinder support using small, agile field teams, to ahead scout ahead and identify the most practical access, movement and extraction options for an incident area, including routes, staging areas, extraction points and landing zone points, helping agencies reduce delays & improve access decisions.
Specialist aerial capability for remote-area UAV operations, with advanced drone systems used for thermal search, aerial reconnaissance, real-time relay, illumination, broadcast, payload resupply and sustained UAV mission support. Service includes FOB support operations for Police SAR taskings.
Our team conducts on-ground trail and activity safety and response audits, SOP reviews, scenario training and post-incident reviews to test, refine and continuously improve your safety systems. We also assist hikers and trekking groups with safety and emergency planning for their hikes or treks.
Trail Rescue Australia provides critical resupply and contingency support when the loss of equipment, food, water, communications, medical consumables or time begins to threaten safety, operational continuity or self-recovery. This is a preventative and emergency-focused support capability.
Trail Rescue Australia provides baseline trail medical support (TMS) services that deliver first aid, preventative trail health care (PTHC), casualty monitoring, and trail evacuations. Advanced medical support provided by our partners Outdoor Wilderness Response
Trail Search and Rescue (SAR) standby and rapid-response teams for short-notice call-outs, deploying specialist UAV field teams equipped with advanced IR/thermal UAVs and operating alongside helicopters, ATVs and 4WDs, in support of Police and other emergency service–led search and rescue operations.

Live 2 hr Q&A Session covering the techniques, gear, kit and considerations for emergency signalling in dense jungle rainforest environments - one of the most difficult conditions for effective signalling. The session is focused at the solo or duo hiker, or remote worker context.

ABOUT US
Trail Rescue Australia (TRA) is a private company of field specialists with extensive experience in trail support, SAR, UAVs, emergency evacuations and specialised training in the NT, WA, FNQ, SA and VIC.
The TRA team have hiked and worked on the Larapinta Trail, the Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT) since 2004 and across remote areas of the Kimberley, Central Australia, the Australian Alps and Wet Tropics.
We work closely with Outback Wilderness Response who provide all advanced
paramedic and medical care and evacuation needs.



In life-threatening or missing-person situations, we can assist in activating 000 and the relevant Police or emergency services and then operate as a specialist support asset within the Australian Search and Rescue system, delivering specialised, rapid response UAV field teams for searches, remote FOBs, logistics and medical support.
